Online/Virtual Physiotherapy
What does Online Treatment look like?
Virtual physiotherapy or Online Treatment is an assessment and treatment done via video or telephone. don’t worry if you’re not very technical, it’s easier than you think.
Why use Virtual Physiotherapy?
It is often used for non-complex musculoskeletal problems, or for patients who are unable to attend for Face to Face treatments due to a variety of reasons. It provides an effective advisory service to help people manage their problem and improve their symptoms. It is not designed to replace Face to Face interactions. However you can be shown some soft tissue self- help techniques, guided through a progressive exercise regime and rehabilitation.
Some advantages of virtual consultation:
They can be done in the comfort of your own home thereby cutting down on travel time and cost.
You will get an assessment, advice, and exercise that you would receive during a face-to-face appointment.
If you are on holiday a virtual appointment is possible giving you continuity of treatment.
What to expect from your Virtual Appointment
We use Skype for our video consultations. When you ring us we will take your details. One of our physiotherapists who does the online service will ring you to book an online slot of 30 minutes. If you have Skype already the physio will take your contact details. Otherwise, Skype is easy and free to use as a “Guest” in your web browser and straightforward instructions will be sent to you in advance. Your physio will call you via Skype at the time of your appointment.
Your first session will be an assessment and discussion of your problem. The physiotherapist will ask you to perform certain movements so as they can assess your function.
The physiotherapist will then give you advise on how to manage and treat your condition. We can also send you exercises and treatment advice personalised to you. Depending on your requirements you may need another virtual or face to face appointment.
We also offer phone consultations which are more of an advisory service. These can be booked in when you phone reception.
