Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis causes bones to become weak, as a result of this they can break more easily.
If you have been diagnosed with osteoporosis it is important to know which exercises are safe for you. You may also be experiencing pain or you may have fallen and fractured a bone. You may be worried about changes in your spinal shape, muscle weakness and a lack of balance.
Physiotherapy can help you.
The benefits of having physiotherapy include:
- • A simple and effective exercise programme to help minimise the chance of falling – see Otago Programme
- • Improving Posture, Balance and Strength – see Otago Programme
- • Improving mobility
- • Reducing/controlling pain
- • Increasing muscle strength, flexibility, and Breathing expansion
- • Increasing confidence, well being and independence.
